After a wonderful first retreat at The Lady of the Château in 2025, Rosso Emerald Crimson returns for a second week of painting and creative fellowship in 2026. This immersive portraiture workshop is designed to deepen your exploration of figure, color, and technique under Rosso’s guidance. This is a chance to paint alongside a leading voice in the portraiture world- to absorb her energy, dynamism, unique techniques, and grow around other passionate dedicated artists.
Before you arrive, a sumptuous banquet scene will be staged and photographed at the Château—abundant fruit, luxurious fabrics, candlelight, richness. Drawing on the Bacchanalia tradition of Rubens and Titian, but reimagined through a contemporary lens.
You’ll paint from these photographs throughout the week: portraits, details, close-ups that connect to the theme. You will also have opportunities to paint still lifes from the actual banquet setup and working from the live model for a few sessions—direct observation, color mixing, immersion in the sensory pleasure of paint itself.
Small group, daily demonstrations, individual guidance. Work from the banquet references or choose from alternative portrait photographs—flexibility built in.
The château becomes part of the work. The scene becomes your source.
This retreat offers more than technical tools and practice— it’s a chance to refine your perspective, push the boundaries of your creative voice, and grow in community with artists from around the world. A week of dedicated creative living does wonders to fan the flames of your work and your inspiration. All this balanced with beautiful dining, entertainment, exploration, and connection, this promises to be a week you’ll never forget.
Make your creative life a priority this year.
